  • How much does it cost?

    You must book your Life in the UK Test online at least 3 days in advance. It costs £50.

  • When can I take a life in the UK test?

    You can take it at any time. There is no expiry date for the test.

  • What type ID need to take a test?

    You need to have one of the following to book and take the test:

    1. valid passport

    2. valid travel document with a photo (you cannot use an emergency travel document)

    3. biometric residence permit

    4. biometric residence card

  • Who do not need to take the test

    You do not need to take the test if you:

    1. are under 18

    2. are 65 or over

    3. have passed it before - for example, if you’re applying to become a citizen and already passed it as part of your settlement application

    4. have a long-term physical or mental condition - you must provide either a form or letter from a doctor confirming your physical or mental condition

  • How many times can I take the test?

    You can take the test as many times as you can pass the test.

  • Can I take life in the UK test outside of the UK?

    There is no test centre outside of the UK. You have take the test in the UK.

  • How many questions in the test?

    There are 24 questions and you need to pass at least 18 questions.
